What is A-Level?
A-levels are internationally recognised qualifications that are required for entry into many university courses and professional training opportunities. Students typically study A-levels between the ages of 17 and 18.
The AS & A Levels aim to develop learners’ knowledge, understanding and skills in:
• In-depth subject content
• Independent thinking
• Applying knowledge and understanding to new as well as familiar situations
• Handling and evaluating different types of information sources
• Thinking logically and presenting ordered and coherent arguments
• Making judgments, recommendations and decisions
• Presenting reasoned explanations, understanding implications and communicating them logically and clearly
• Working and communicating in English.
The AS Level programme is a one-year course, whilst the A Level programme is a two-year course. Some subjects can be started at the AS Level and extended into the A Level programme.
