Overview

BA ISAGO University aims to attract all applicants with the highest intellectual potential from all walks of life irrespective of social, racial, cultural, or religious background. The University has been operating in the tertiary education landscape for more than twenty (20) years and we pride ourselves on attracting students who are doing well in the job market and entrepreneurial space.

The University is a good corporate citizen and we take cognizance of affirmative action which caters for applications from less privileged backgrounds such as orphans and vulnerable children (OVC’s), people living with disabilities, and rural area dwellers programme (RADP). In order to qualify our programmes, applicants have to meet certain entry requirements.

The general entry requirements for degree programmes are at least five credits, a diploma four credits, and certificate three credits. However, we have programmes which require applicants to have credited specific subjects such as English, Science or Mathematics. Prospective students can access programme entry requirements from the University prospectus or faculty brochures.

It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that they are fully aware of the admission requirements for the programmes in which they wish to enroll. Applicants have to meet the admission requirements, as determined by BA ISAGO and its partner institutions, and must necessarily ensure that they are aware of any additional requirements that may apply to some programmes. These additional requirements are provided where applicable. Once an application is made, the Application Fee payable is not refundable.

Admission Process

The Admissions Process followed by BA ISAGO University is described below. All prospective students’ are required to follow the steps outlined to enable them to enroll at BA ISAGO provide they meet the requirements as outlined below.

  1. Enquiries

The University welcomes all candidates wishing to study at BA ISAGO to enquire about the courses offered; the admission requirements; fees charged; and any other questions that they may have regarding their area of study. The University will respond to the questions either by telephone or in writing. Students may access all the contact details on the Home/Contact Page.

  1. Applications

Candidates meeting the admission requirement may submit their Application Forms to the University. Prospective undergraduate applicants may download Application Forms from this site or obtain the Forms from University Admissions Office at the three campuses. The forms must be returned directly to the Admissions Offices at the University.

Application Requirements:

The following documents and fees must be submitted together with the completed Application Form:

The original and an uncertified copy of your highest school qualification even if you have completed a degree at another university or University and
The original and an uncertified copy of ID document or passport. and
A copy of any official correspondence stating one’s change of name (if applicable) or one’s marriage certificate (applicable only to married women) and
Evidence that one has satisfied any additional requirements for the programme as identified in the rules for the relevant degree or diploma.

Registration of Applicants

Registration takes place in accordance with the arrangements prescribed semester by the University. The registration process is not complete until the student has paid full tuition fees, completed and submitted all documents prescribed by the University and, where necessary, meets the requirements set by the Ministry of Education for those students whose fees are paid for by the Ministry.

Applicants are to note the following:

Any person who wishes to be enrolled as a student of the University for a particular academic year must complete and sign the official BA ISAGO Registration Form. This binds the student to all rules, regulations and requirements of the University.

Applications for a Government scholarship must be done after submission of an application to the University and receipt of an Admission Letter from the same.
Students who are not sponsored by the Government of Botswana, or other sponsors, shall pay the full tuition fees deposit before registration is confirmed. The registration will not be processed without a receipt attached to the Registration Form.

By signing the Registration Form student and/or parent/guardian declares that he/she is familiar with the contents of the BA ISAGO Prospectus, Student Code of Conduct, and all the rules of the University including the rules of the proposed degree, diploma, or certificate programme.
Restrictions:

The University may restrict the number of study units for which a student may register in a particular year.
A student’s may not be registered after the closing dates for a particular academic year
The University may also refuse any application for registration if the student has an incomplete Registration Form; has not paid the prescribed tuition and other fees; or has not provided a letter of sponsorship; and/or the necessary documentary evidence of support of his/her application has not been received by the University on or before the stipulated closing date for registration.

How to Apply to BA ISAGO University as an Undergraduate

Ready to apply? BA ISAGO accepts applications via the University online application or paper application. Keep in mind that applications for admission to BA ISAGO are considered on a rolling basis, so early submission of application materials is strongly encouraged. All applicants to the School of Graduate Studies, Professional Programmes have a separate application form with dates for submission. Applicants will be notified of a decision within a few weeks of completing the application.

STUDY PERMIT APPLICATION

You need the following;

  • Admission letter from the Admissions office. 
  • Copy of sponsorship letter or Proof of payment.
  • Two passport photos 
  •  Pages of a passport that contain passport number date of birth
  • Expiry date of a passport
  • certified Copy of birth certificate
  •  Payment of P1,500.00 charged for Immigration services 
  • Emergency travel documents will not be accepted when processing a residence permit, only a valid passport will be accepted. 
  • It is advisable to bring certified copies of the above documents with you when traveling to avoid delays and paying fee for certifying. 
  • Students are responsible for maintaining the validity of their study permit throughout their stay in Botswana

STUDENT ACCOMMODATION

BA ISAGO University does not provide any accommodation but facilitates all international students to find safe and secure accommodation within the vicinity of the University. The University works with preferred Real Estate agents to find the accommodation of your choice and budget. In the Acceptance form, you must indicate if you wish University to facilitate in looking for accommodation

Student Registration

After satisfying all the procedures and processes during the admission and application stage, students are now required to pay tuition fees and register. The registration process takes place within stipulated deadlines, and our academic year is divided into two semesters one starting in January and the other in July.

The registration dates are usually shared with students on the admission letter and communicated through different platforms such as the University website, students portal, social media or emails.

Students can only register if they have paid semester fees or produced sponsorship letter from sponsor such as Department of Tertiary Education and Financing (DTEF) or any other financier. 

Please note the following:

  • Any person who wishes to be enrolled as student must do so within the stipulated registration period. 
  • Students should familiarize themselves with all the rules and regulations of the University which are contained on the student handbook before they sign up for registration.
  • Students who are not sponsored by government or any other sponsor, shall contact our finance department and enquired about the amount to be paid in order to register. 
  • Students can come to Admissions Department to register over the counter or Register online by clicking “register now” tab on the website. Registration steps are outlined on the online registration booklet is provided on the website. 
  • After completing registration students are required to come to the admission department to print student ID which is used to access the University premises, the library, and Examination rooms. Kindly note that if student loses their ID after the first issuance they required to pay P70.00 to print a duplicate.

Accommodation & Campus Life

Does the University provide accommodation?

The University does not provide accommodation, however, international students may be assisted to secure accommodation.

Are there any arrangements for accommodation the University can make for students who come from remote places?

The University is committed to assisting with finding accommodation for OVC and special needs students.

What Procedures do I follow if I cannot attend classes due to ill health?

A medical record must be submitted to the Student Welfare & Support Services Division and the Head of Department. If the student is sponsored by DTEF, the sponsor has to be notified by submitting the medical records to defer studies

What procedures should I follow if I am bereaved or have social issues and I cannot attend classes?

The student must inform Student Support Office with proof. The University will then make necessary arrangements for the student.

Is it possible for the entry requirements to be revised?

The University may revise the entry requirements when the need arises, however, currently the entry requirements are as follows; Certificate programmes require at least three credits obtained at BGCSE level Diploma Progammes require at least 4 credits obtained at BGCSE level Degree programmes require at least 5 credits obtained at BGCSE level

Are the programmes marketable?

BA ISAGO University offers unique market- driven programmes in an endeavor to contribute meaningfully to human resources locally and beyond the borders of the country.

Are your Courses Accredited?

The programmes offered by BA ISAGO University are accredited by Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) and are listed in the website @ www.bqa.org.bw

Do you offer distance learning?

The University does not have any programmes offered on distance mode at the moment, however there is block release mode of study and the weekend classes.

Are the programmes offered recognized internationally?

Yes the programmes offered are market driven. The University strives to produce an all rounded graduate equipped to exercise their skills and competencies in an international setting.

Can applications be done online?

The application forms are available on campus and may be downloaded from the university website. They are submitted with the required attachments (academic certificate/s & ID) to the Admissions Divisions once filled.

Fees & Sponsorship

Are the fees negotiable, are there any discounts?

The University has a fee schedule which may be given to clients at their request. The payment plan is stipulated in the fees schedule but one can negotiate with our finance department how best they can make payments.

Where do I get my sponsorship letter (from DTEF or BA ISAGO University)?

Sponsorship letters are issued to students by DTEF. The student collects their letter and submits to the University in order to process registration.

How do I get a refund?

There are many variations of passages of Lorem Ipsum available, but the majority have suffered alteration in some form, by injected humour, or randomised words which don’t look even slightly believable.

What happens if one fails a module the previous semester? How about in cases where it’s a repeat? What processes do I follow with DTEF?

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English.

Is there a special payment plan for self-paying students?

One can pay for themselves while waiting for DTEF and apply for retake sponsorship when they open. If successful then request for a refund from the University.

What if there is less than 5 people who applied for a programme,and they are ready to pay and start?

In order for a programme to run, especially for part time there must be at least 10 students registered for the programme to commence.
