What is Health Promotion and Education?

Health education involves teaching individuals and giving information to the public to achieve better health. Health promotion motivates individuals to accept behavioral change by directly influencing beliefs, values, and attitudes. The two concepts, health promotion, and education, share symbiotic strategies.

BSc in Health Promotion & Education

The Degree in Health Promotion and Education is designed to provide learners with learning experiences which will assist them to achieve desirable understanding, attitudes and practices related to critical health issues.

This will enable them to competently impart knowledge and skills to the community, and by so doing increase the options available to people to exercise more control over their own health, environment and to make the right choices.

Admission Requirements

BGCSE/equivalent with at least 36 points with a minimum of grade C in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or a CC in Double Science, D in English as well as a credit in any other subject.

Candidates should be 25 years or above at the time of application and must have an appropriate diploma in a relevant course from an institution accredited by BQA may also be considered. No persons shall be allowed direct entry into the final year of the degree program.

Exemptions may be granted to candidates with a Diploma in Health Education & Promotion or equivalent.

The potential candidate must also have experience with public education services with proof thereof, a letter of confirmation from the service or portfolio of evidence may be required.
