What is Business Administration?

Business administration, also known as business management, is the administration of a commercial enterprise. It includes all aspects of overseeing and supervising the business operations of an organization.

Objectives

This course gives a well-rounded understanding of all the key areas involved in the running of a business. Learners will acquire detailed knowledge on the fundamental areas of Human Resource Management, Marketing and Accounting as well as enabling the development of planning and communication skills. At the end of the course learners will be familiar with all the basic functions of management at all levels and with the process and systems available for the successful operation of a business. This course can be taken on a full-time or part-time basis.

The programme is designed to give an excellent foundation in the areas that are critical when starting or running a business. Learners develop key skills in areas of Marketing, Management, Purchasing, as well as core skills in Communication and Accounting. It is suitable for;

Entry Requirements 

  • Applicants must have at least three passes at Botswana General Certificate in Secondary Education (BGCSE) level, or its equivalent. OR
  • Special Entry: Candidates who do not have the minimum academic qualifications, as stated above, but have a minimum of two years uninterrupted experience in the real estate industry will be considered. In such cases candidates will undergo interviews for in-depth assessment, and meet the Academic Affairs Board requirements.

Programme Structure

The programme is divided into two semesters, which start in January and July each year.

Learners will be assessed on the basis of the following:

  • Coursework
  • Mid-term examinations
  • Workplace Attachment
  • Final examinations
