A pharmacy technician performs pharmacy-related functions. Training, certification, licensing, and actual practice of pharmacy technicians varies not only worldwide but in some countries regionally as well as by employer.

Higher National Diploma in Pharmacy Technology

The role of the pharmacy profession has been evolving regionally and globally from being compounders and dispensers of medicines to a more clinical and patient focused role. For the pharmaceutical sector to function optimally and efficiently, the pharmacists and pharmacy technicians should have distinct roles although overlaps may not be completely obliterated. The course offers well balanced modules to cover essential aspects of pharmacy practice, cognizant of the evolving role of the pharmacy profession. The aim is to produce a healthcare cadre equipped with skills and knowledge to function as an effective dispenser of pharmaceutical services in primary healthcare settings.

Admission Requirements

BGCSE or equivalent with at least 36 points with a minimum of grade C in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or a BB in double science, D in English and a credit in any other subject,

OR Candidates should be 25 years or above at the time of application and must have an appropriate Diploma in a relevant course from a BQA accredited institution.

The potential candidate must also have experience in the pharmacy practice with proof thereof, a letter of confirmation from the service or portfolio of evidence may be required.
