Institute of Health Sciences Lobatse Admissions Guide
Overview
Botswana Institute of Health Sciences Coordination Unit invites applications from candidates wishing to study for the programmes indicated in the table below.
Candidates should hold a minimum of a COSC/BGCSE or its equivalent with a minimum grade as specified under each program below. The duration for all basic programmes is 3 years.

IHS – Lobatse
Basic Entry Requirements
A grade D or better in English, a grade C or better in Mathematics, Biology, and one other Science subject (Chemistry, Physics, and Physical Science)option 2A grade D or better in English, a grade C or better in Mathematics and double award Science subject option 3A grade D or better in English, a grade C or better in Mathematics and combined Science
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH IHS – Lobatse
A grade D or better in English, and a minimum of grade C in Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry; OR grade D or better in English and a minimum of grade Cin Mathematics and grade BB or better in Double Award Sciences; OR grade D or better in English and grade C or better in Mathematics, Biology, and Physic-chem.
PSYCHIATRIC MENTAL HEALTH NURSING IHS – Lobatse
Diploma in General Nursing (G.N) with a minimum of two years of relevant clinical practice. Registered as a General Nurse with the Nursing and Advance Diploma in Midwifery Council of Botswana. Must be in possession of a Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE) or its’ equivalent with a minimum of grade D in English Language and a minimum of grade C in Mathematics, Biology and Physics/Chemistry, Science Double Award, Combined Science, and Additional Combined Science or any other Science combination. Must be registered with Nursing and Advance Diploma in Midwifery Council of Botswana (NMCB)> Satisfactory performance in the selection interview shall be required for admission.
Entry Requirement
a) Option1: A grade D or better in English, a grade C or better in Mathematics, Biology, and one other science subject (Chemistry, Physics, and Physical Science)
b) Option 2: A grade D or better in English, a grade C or better in Mathematics, and Double Award Science or
c) Option 3: A grade D or better in English, a grade C or better in Mathematics and Combined Science plus Additional Combined Science/Physi-chem, Bio-chem
Option 1: A grade D or better in English, and a minimum of grade C in Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry
b) Option 2: A grade D or better in English and a minimum of grade C in Mathematics and grade BB or better in Double Award Sciences;
c) Option 3: A grade D or better in English and a grade C or better in Mathematics, Biology, and Physic-chem.

ADMISSION GUIDE
How to apply
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following post in the general nursing department:
PART-TIME CLINICAL/ PRACTICUM INSTRUCTORS LEVEL THREE (4 WEEKS)
- EXPERIENCE: At least two years post qualification work experience. An experience in clinical teaching will be an added advantage
- MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To supervise, assess and evaluate students’ practical performance for general nursing clinical at different levels.DUTIES:
- Assumes full responsibility and accountability while supervising students in the field of practice.
- Assess students in the clinical area and avail marks
- Write weekly clinical reports on work progress.
REMUNERATION: P75 per hour of clinical work
