Purpose of the Role
To maintain the assets and provide equipment performance to ensure safe, sustainable production.
To coordinate and execute engineering maintenance and project activities in the designated sections.

Key Job Responsibilities
- Interprets operational requirements and integrates with discipline base financial needs to ensure availability of financial resources to meet business objectives
- Aligns Asset Management initiatives to the Mine Strategic Plan
- Analysing trends on equipment performance
- Assessing operational performance (e.g plant throughputs, machine availability)
- Builds up capacity and capability by assessing and improving skills and resourcing within the function
- Coordinates the Asset Management programme implementation
- Coordinates the implementation of short/medium term Asset Management initiatives
- Developing and implementing solutions for poor performance
- Develops and reviews short/medium term maintenance, project and developmental requirements for the section
- Develops the maintenance plan in collaboration with the Asset Management Engineer
- Ensures compliance by aligning performance standards and objectives to the mine’s overall plan
- Ensures that upgrades and enhancements of equipment /machinery are performed effectively
- Ensures top risks are identified and mitigation plans in place and reviewed periodically
- Identifying poor equipment performance
- Implementing changes as required (e.g new/improved technology requirements)
- Implements and improves Asset Maintenance high-value processes in line with the Asset Management programme; Defect Elimination, Work Management, Condition Monitoring, Contractor Management
- Manages and controls the Engineering function at sectional level by developing and revising sectional procedures
- Oversees and coordinates the appropriate execution of the maintenance plan by the Maintenance Coordinators and Maintenance Dispatchers
- Performa life cycle costing and equipment criticality classification exercises to assess best practices for: replacement and inventory control; service, repair and reconditioning; decommissioning and disposal
- Performs over-inspections on equipment and takes action on identified faults
- Pulls support from Reliability section for: implementation of high-value processes; coaching on high-value processes; performance measurement
- Researches and evaluates maintenance process expenditure
- Updates and coordinates the implementation of Asset Management standards and procedures
- Attends to administrative functions of the department: ensures the availability of performance reports and statistics; ensures the risk log and scorecards are up-to-date
- Collects analyses data and produces reports as required by management
- Initiates, monitors and controls short term sectional projects to ensure attainment of desired results
- Reward high performance and give feedback on poor performance
- Sets, monitors and reviews performance of subordinates
- Identifies and implements creative and innovative ideas to continuously improve and sustain business performance
- Implements knowledge management principles through application of tools and methodologies to continuously improve and sustain business performance
- Implements sectional talent management initiatives by ensuring the right competence and effectiveness of manpower (capacity building) through developing and implementing career, localization /succession, training and development plans
- Manages the effectiveness areas of subordinates and reviews targets

Education
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering
Experience
7 years post qualification Enginnering experience in a heavy engineering environment post EIT programme
