Purpose of the Role
To provide technical expertise to Social Performance teams at the mine sites and Social Performance assurance to the Head of Corporate Affairs.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Develops the Corporate Social Performance strategy in alignment with the Corporate Affairs (CA) Strategy and provides assurance and reporting against this strategy
Other Job Responsibilities
- Works with a range of external and internal stakeholders to ensure Social Performance integration, particularly in cross-cutting areas such as human rights
- Develops systems and procedures and recommends appropriate changes to Debswana policy to enable effective implementation of all the requirements of the Social Way
- Acts as the main point of liaison with the De Beers Group Social Performance function with regards to the Social Way Management System
- Liaises with the Projects function to ensure that the requirements of the Social Way are embedded as early as possible in the project cycle
- Proactively advises the site Social Performance teams on how to identify, avoid, prevent, mitigate and remediate adverse social impacts and risks including those that are context-specific
- Proactively advises the site teams on how to identify and engage with affected, potentially affected and interested stakeholders
- Works with the Corporate Citizenship Manager to ensure that the site-level Socio-Economic Development and Contractor Management plans are aligned with Life-of-Mine planning and support the objectives of social closure planning
- Works with the Corporate Citizenship Manager and Supply Chain to ensure that companies contribute to both a resilient supply chain and the economic and social development of host communities
- Works with the Corporate Citizenship Manager and Human Resources to ensure that local community employment is maximised through local training and recruitment programmes
- Coordinates and manages the Social Performance policies and procedures
- Implement knowledge management principles through application of tools and methodologies to continuously improve and sustain business performance
Education
- Bachelors Degree in Communication, Social Sciences or equivalent
Experience
5 years working experience, 2 of which involved Social Performance.
